The
United States Embassy in Peru delivered a small rescue boat to the Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations (MIMP). It will be used to respond to cases of violence against women and families in the Amazon.
The unit is valued at US$30,000. Its donation was made possible through the United States Southern Command's Humanitarian Assistance Program.
The boat will be assigned to the MIMP's Aurora Program in Condorcanqui province (Amazonas region) to strengthen and expedite the response to cases of violence against women and family members in Amazonian communities.

"Through this delivery, the United States is helping to ensure faster and safer interventions, reducing travel time from 15 to 4 days and improving the protection of communities in the Peruvian Amazon," the U.S. Embassy in Peru highlighted.
The ceremony was attended by the Chargé d'Affaires of the diplomatic mission, Joan Perkins; Minister of Women and Vulnerable Populations, Fanny Montellanos; and the Acting Chief of the Embassy's Military Assistance and Advisory Group, U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Paul M. Smith.
