Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Elmer Schialer met on Friday with
United States Deputy Secretary of State, Christopher Landau, and reaffirmed Peru's willingness to elevate bilateral relations with the U.S. to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
The meeting addressed issues related to security and defense cooperation, bilateral trade, economic relations, and other matters of mutual interest.
The Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister also met with his counterpart from Belize, Francis Fonseca, to whom he reaffirmed Peru's commitment to expanding the shared agenda through cooperation initiatives in agriculture, culture, and diplomatic training.
"The strengthening of ties with CARICOM and of political dialogue were discussed as well," the Peruvian government agency reported.
Within this framework, the Peruvian Minister spoke today during the dialogue of heads of delegation.
At the meeting, he highlighted Peru's role in the fight against organized crime, the promotion of social inclusion, and a just energy transition.
