has begun her trip to the Asian continent with the aim of promoting investment, strengthening trade ties, and opening new cooperation opportunities for Peru's development.
This working trip is part of the government's strategy to boost the national economy, create jobs, and strengthen the country's presence in highly competitive international markets, the Presidential Office highlighted.
In this regard, the Head of State will begin her official activities in Japan on Thursday, August 7, at 9:00 a.m. (local time), with her participation in the 16th Meeting of the Peruvian-Japanese Business Council (Cepeja).
This event brings together top executives from leading Japanese corporations and their Peruvian counterparts.
In this edition, business leaders aim to finalize bilateral agreements and mutually beneficial trade exchanges that will promote new investments and business opportunities.
Later, the top official will head to the Peruvian Embassy in Japan, where she will take part in the ceremony for the donation of fire trucks from the Japan Firefighters Association to the National Fire Department of Peru (INBP).
Afterwards, she will hold a meeting with the Peruvian community residing in Japan at which they will discuss the importance of the recent decision by the Asian country to reinstate the visa exemption for holders of ordinary Peruvian passports, in effect since July 1, 2025.
In the afternoon, President Boluarte will take part in "Invest Day Peru," an event organized by the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (PromPeru) to connect Peruvian exporting companies with buyers, distributors, and opinion leaders from Japan and other Asian countries.
Bilateral summit with Japan's Prime Minister

, on Friday, August 8, a bilateral summit will be held between Japanese Prime Minister, Shigeru Ishiba, and the Peruvian Head of State, during which important cooperation agreements will be signed.
This meeting is the result of strengthened bilateral relations, which were consolidated on November 17, 2024, when the Japanese Prime Minister paid an official visit to Peru.
On that occasion, both heads of government adopted a joint declaration. Similarly, they approved the roadmap to strengthen the Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Peru and Japan (2024–2033). It includes 61 commitments distributed across five pillars: political-diplomatic, economic, bilateral cooperation, social and people-to-people relations, as well as security and defense.
As part of this process, the working group responsible for monitoring the commitments outlined in the roadmap was established on April 3, 2025.
This body included the participation of the Embassies of Peru and Japan, both in Tokyo and Lima, as well as the general directorates of both Foreign Affairs Ministries.
It was agreed to prioritize six strategic commitments and to foster progress on the other components, with a view to achieving concrete results from the first year of implementation.
Within this framework, at 3:45 p.m. (local time), the Head of State will be received in an audience by His Imperial Majesty Emperor Naruhito at the Imperial Palace.
The most recent meeting between a member of the Japanese Imperial Family and the President of the Republic took place on Tuesday, November 7, 2023.
On that date, Her Imperial Highness, Princess Kako, was received at the Government Palace in Lima on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Peru and Japan.
