The Presidency of the Republic of Peru highlighted on Thursday that Peruvian identity is lived on Chineria Island, where citizens of Santa Rosa de Loreto and members of the Armed Forces carry out patrols.

This message was issued by the Presidential Office on the X platform.

"Peruvian identity is alive on Chineria Island! Citizens of Santa Rosa de Loreto and members of the Armed Forces, who carry out land and river patrols along the border, started their day raising the national flag and singing the national anthem," it stated.

The Peruvian citizens reached the town of Santa Rosa, which is part of Chineria Island, where a few days ago a Colombian presidential pre-candidate had raised his country's flag.

The compatriots carried Peruvian flags, and some were dressed in the marinera costume, the traditional dance attire from northern Peru.

Chineria Island is under the protection of the Peruvian Armed Forces, who carry out land and river patrols in the area.
