The high-ranking official added that all Peruvians must defend it.
The session was aimed at informing lawmakers about the current situation and the measures adopted in Santa Rosa de Loreto.
"Peru's sovereignty over Chineria Island and the Santa Rosa de Loreto district is historically and legally conclusive, and it is the responsibility of all Peruvians to defend it," Minister Astudillo stated during the event.
"The response of the Peruvian State was immediate, and it was decided that on the same day Prime Minister Eduardo Arana, along with other Cabinet members, would travel to carry out a civic action in the area," Astudillo mentioned.
At another point, he stated that for the past five decades, Peru has participated in a series of riverine exercises called Bracoper, involving Colombia and Brazil, as well as other meetings with authorities from said countries to coordinate actions against transnational organized crime.
The minister also announced that Santa Rosa de Loreto district will be one of the locations to be visited by the Itinerant Social Action Platforms (PIAS), which deliver a range of services provided by the Peruvian State.
Lastly, Minister Astudillo urged future Peruvian governments not to neglect the modernization of the Armed Forces, emphasizing that they must be "strong, modern, and equipped with the necessary capabilities to address any contingency."
