At the Third Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM3) of APEC, the Chairman of the Peruvian Committee to the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC), Ambassador Renato Reyes, outlined Peru's vision on the challenges and opportunities facing the multilateral framework in the Asia-Pacific region.

In the session titled "Beyond 2025: The Way Forward for Asia-Pacific Regional Cooperation," Ambassador Reyes highlighted the main outcomes of Peru's 2024 APEC Presidency.

Among them were the adoption of the Machu Picchu Leaders' Declaration, 11 ministerial declarations approved by consensus, and the advancement of the Lima Roadmap to Promote the Transition to the Formal and Global Economies (2025-2040) —a topic that has been incorporated into the forum's permanent agenda.

He also emphasized the relevance of the PECC as a platform for dialogue, highlighting initiatives such as the FTAAP Pathways to Prosperity, as well as ongoing discussions on artificial intelligence and population decline, which contribute to enriching APEC's long-term agenda vision.

Peru's participation in the PECC reaffirms its commitment to an open and inclusive Asia-Pacific region, advocating for greater complementarity between APEC and PECC to deliver concrete results that benefit economies and their citizens.
