The
inaugurated the 16th Meeting of the Peruvian-Japanese Business Council (CEPEJA) during her official visit to Japan. At the event, she presented a portfolio of investment projects in Peru valued at US$17.3 billion to the host country's business leaders.
During her participation in the Tokyo-based business meeting, the Head of State highlighted that, for this year, Peru is offering a significant portfolio consisting of 28 projects to be awarded throughout 2025, with a total value of over US$8.2 billion.
"These projects are aimed at key sectors such as health, sanitation, education, transportation, telecommunications, infrastructure, mining, hydrocarbons, irrigation, among others. An additional 48 projects are scheduled to be awarded in 2026, with a total value exceeding US$9.1 billion," she explained.
The president stated that one of her government's main objectives is to promote the sustainable growth of the Peruvian economy through the expansion of international markets, the strengthening of foreign trade based on clear rules, and the attraction of investments that drive the South American country's development.
"All of this is aimed at reducing inequalities and moving toward an economy capable of producing and exporting non-traditional products with greater added value," she pointed out.
In that regard, the president stated that her administration is working intensively to consolidate a favorable environment for foreign investment.
Therefore, the Head of State noted that an initial deregulation package has been implemented to remove bureaucratic barriers and streamline administrative procedures.
"We are precisely about to launch a second deregulation package, aimed at reducing administrative costs and removing any bureaucratic obstacles to investment," she underscored.
At another point, President Boluarte underscored that Peru and Japan have a modern economic legal framework that provides security and facilitates trade and investment.
This framework includes the Economic Partnership Agreement, the Agreement for the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments, and the Convention to Avoid Double Taxation and Prevent Tax Evasion.
Furthermore, the top official highlighted that Peru has a highly valued agricultural and fishing export offering at the international level due to its geographic diversity and exceptional biodiversity.
Moreover, she noted Peruvian access to more than 160 international markets, supported by an economic openness policy and participation in key trade agreements such as the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
"Amid the challenges of the international arena, Peru emerges as a reliable partner. Our country has the potential to become a strategic ally of Japan in the supply of high-nutritional-value foods, as well as critical minerals essential for Japan's high-tech industry and the development of joint industrial projects," she emphasized.
The Head of State also invited Japanese business leaders to take part in the PERUMIN 37 Mining Convention. The event will be held in the southern city of Arequipa from September 22 to 26.
Mrs. Boluarte stated that this important event will be an opportunity to showcase Peru's mining potential and its capacity to position itself as a strategic supplier to Japan.
Accompanying the president at the meeting were Ministers Raul Perez Reyes (Economy and Finance), Jorge Luis Montero (Energy and Mines), Elmer Schialer (Foreign Affairs), Desilu Leon (Foreign Trade and Tourism), Cesar Sandoval (Transportation and Communications), and Angel Manero (Agrarian Development and Irrigation).
