Peru: Culture Ministry confirms Machu Picchu 2026 ticket sales are not yet available

03:05 | Cusco (Cusco region), Aug. 11.

The Ministry of Culture clarified that ticket sales for entry to the Llaqta (Inca Citadel) of Machu Picchu for the year 2026 have not yet been enabled.

Therefore, it rejected the statement made by the Regional Chamber of Tourism of Cusco (Cartuc) chairman, reported by a media outlet, claiming that the sector had withdrawn the ticket purchase option, since this is not true.

In a statement released on August 9, the Ministry of Culture specified that no changes have been made to restrict the online ticket sales process through the platform www.tuboleto.cultura.pe.

On the contrary, improvements have been made, such as real-time display of the number of available entry tickets.

"Ticket sales for each year are enabled in December of the previous year. For example, ticket sales for 2025 began on December 10, 2024. Therefore, the predictability of purchasing entry tickets is not affected," the document stated.

It also explained that before October 31 of each year, through a ministerial resolution, the periods of maximum carrying capacity during the high season are established.

Besides, the dates for dynamic capacity management for the following year are regulated, in accordance with the Protocol for the Management of Visits to the Machu Picchu Llaqta, approved by Ministerial Resolution No. 207-2024-MC.

"In this regard, we urge that information be verified with official sources before its dissemination, in order to avoid spreading inaccurate data that could have a negative impact on our world wonder," it emphasized.

"We recommend that visitors obtain information through our official channels to access verified data," the document added.

"The Ministry of Culture reaffirms its commitment to working toward a modern, transparent, and orderly access system to the Machu Picchu Llaqta, aiming to protect the integrity of our World Heritage Site while ensuring safe, efficient, and equitable access for all," the statement concluded.
