In a virtual meeting with several port captains across the country, the top official received a report on the actions taken in response to the tsunami alert and the readiness to close ports along the shoreline.
At both the Port of Paita and Talara, in Piura region, authorities announced that the beaches have been evacuated.
Industrial, artisanal, and merchant vessels were also alerted to secure their boats.
In Pimentel, Lambayeque region, it was indicated that the maritime community has been informed about the incoming wave. Meetings have been held with the regional government and coastal municipalities, and the evacuation plan has been activated.
The Port Captain of Salaverry, La Libertad region, reported that both the port and the Salaverry International Terminal have been closed, adding that its personnel were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
Likewise, at the Port of Chimbote, Ancash region, it was confirmed that the Civil Defense platform has been activated and that civil defense brigades are guarding access to the beaches.
