on Thursday stated that the official seals and distinctive Peruvian signs launched today protect, as well as promote the country's cultural and productive legacy.
"The official seals or symbols will allow us to identify and promote products or food preparations that have a designation of origin, geographical indication, collective mark, or guaranteed traditional specialty," she stated.
During a ceremony held at the Lima-based Government Palace, the top official said Peru has creativity that makes Peruvians proud and cultural knowledge that must be preserved and protected.
The Head of State indicated that products such as Pisco, giant white corn from Cusco, traditional Chulucanas ceramics, loche squash from Lambayeque region, and coffee from Villa Rica district, among others, will bear a designation of origin.
"We are witnessing an initiative that marks a turning point in the way Peru protects and promotes its cultural treasures, a significant milestone in the effort to give these goods the recognition and value they deserve," Mrs. Boluarte stated.
"With these official seals and distinctive signs, we strengthen protection and commercialization; we go beyond that and create opportunities for thousands of our compatriots, especially those in rural areas," she added.
In this regard, the President said that these official marks will help farmers, artisans, and cooks stand out and better position themselves in both the national and international markets, thereby improving their quality of life.
"Thank you for being here, thank you, National Institute for the Defense of Competition and Intellectual Property Protection (Indecopi). Let us continue positioning more (distinctive) signs, more brands, the pride of Peru. Our consulates must be there, on the front line, promoting our origin-certified brands, our distinctive signs — thus, we will continue to feel proud to be Peruvian," she concluded.
