announced on Tuesday that the 10% increase in the Works for Taxes mechanism cap will allow regions, municipalities, and public universities to make greater investments in hospitals, schools, roads, and public services for citizens.
"The Ministry of Economy and Finance will provide technical assistance to boost these investments," Mrs. Boluarte said from Iquitos, Loreto region, where she closed the
8th Regional State Council.
The top official specified that this increase in the investment cap was one of the commitments reached during this meeting, which was attended by ministers and regional governors.
"We remain committed to decentralized investment, to strengthening capacities, and to planning that puts citizens at the center. Multilevel governance is not just rhetoric; it is a practice that materializes through agreements, coordination, and results," she stated.
Mrs. Boluarte went on to say that other agreements reached included the implementation of six new Tambos in Loreto to expand the Peruvian State's presence in remote Amazonian communities, as well as the rollout of a multisectoral strategy to reduce urban poverty in the rainforest region. It is expected to benefit over 177,000 people.
The President said the Ministry of Production will implement a one-stop digital platform for business formalization and creation, starting with Arequipa.
She added that the transfer of the Ilo artisanal fishing dock to the Regional Government of Moquegua will begin.
Other agreements included funding from the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation for the Magdalena Irrigation Project in Lambayeque region; the implementation of the Piedra Hermosa Water Project in Huancavelica region; the promotion of the final study for Tumbes region's Bypass Road; and the inclusion of the Chinecas Project in the Government-to-Government package, among others.
"Governors, today more than ever we need to work as one Peru. The fight against inequality, the protection of the environment, and access to healthcare, education, and connectivity require joint, coordinated, and determined action," she expressed.
According to the top official, 240 agreements were reached during the 8th Regional State Council, and unity was strengthened to make Peru a more equitable and more developed country.
"The (Peruvian) State is and must be a living presence in every corner of the country, and today it has been so from Peru's largest region: from Loreto, from Iquitos," Mrs. Boluarte emphasized.
"The Executive and the regional governments have engaged in dialogue, coordinated efforts, and above all, we have listened and reached agreements," she added.
The President highlighted that these were intense hours of work, during which projects were unlocked and important agreements were signed for the regions, based on their own potential.
