The Executive Branch, through a supreme decree, has ordered that citizens of Singapore holding valid ordinary passports be exempted from the visa requirement under the business immigration status.

This provision was published on Tuesday in the Legal Resolutions Bulletin of the Official Gazette El Peruano.

It bears the signature of President Dina Boluarte and Foreign Affairs Minister Elmer Schialer.

The regulation specifies that the maximum period of stay in Peru for said citizens is up to 90 calendar days, counted from the date of entry into Peruvian territory, either as a continuous visit or successive visits within a one-year period.

It also stated that the Supreme Decree establishing the exemption will enter into force on August 12, 2025.

In the recitals of the regulation, it is specified that Peru currently grants visa exemption to Singaporean citizens only for tourism purposes, while the Asian country grants visa exemption to Peruvian citizens for both tourism and business purposes. Therefore, in application of the principle of reciprocity, it is appropriate to exempt Singaporeans from the business visa requirement.

"The mutual elimination of the visa requirement for short stays will contribute to strengthening the ties of cooperation, trust, and respect between both countries, facilitating cultural, tourism, and commercial exchange for the benefit of their citizens and joint development," the provision adds.
