Foreign Affairs Ministry reports no Peruvians affected by Alaska earthquake

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that, following the earthquake in Sand Point, Alaska, no Peruvians have been reported affected so far.

Through its social media accounts, the government agency informed that Peruvians in need of assistance can call +1 (415) 290-5349 or contact the following e-mail address: informacion@conpersf.com.

"It is reported that, following the earthquake in Sand Point, Alaska, no Peruvian nationals have been reported affected so far. The Consulate General of Peru in San Francisco is in contact with the authorities and remains attentive to any requests for assistance," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

A powerful 7.3-magnitude earthquake struck the southern coast of Alaska on Wednesday, raising concern among several Pacific authorities.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located 87 kilometers south of Sand Point, in the Shumagin Islands, at a depth of 36 kilometers.
