"A crusade for the Peru we all want to build — a Peru with a future, with justice and with equity," Mrs. Boluarte stated on Monday evening from Chiclayo, where the official launch of the "Paths of Pope Leo XIV" Tourist Route took place.
The top official emphasized that this tourist route should not be seen as an isolated event, but rather as a call for joint action to strengthen the Lambayeque region and ensure it is ready to welcome visitors seeking to explore the places where the Supreme Pontiff once lived.
As is known,
Pope Leo XIV, Francis Robert Prevost, was born in the United States but also holds Peruvian nationality.
In this regard, the President indicated that the government, in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, will continue with the second stage of the project to improve the National Museum of Sican, allocating a public investment of S/9 million (US$2.52 million).
Similarly, the Head of State highlighted that efforts will be made to strengthen the conservation of the Cathedral of Chiclayo, the Santa Veronica Chapel, and other monuments declared Cultural Heritage of the Nation in Lambayeque.
"I invite everyone, without exception, to walk together, as Pope Leo XIV teaches us: with unity and with God, we can always move forward," she said.
The Head of State emphasized that the development of this tourist route is the outcome of coordinated work among the three levels of government.
As she emphasized, the route promotes spiritual connection through the cultural and natural heritage of regions such as Lambayeque, La Libertad, Piura, and Callao, where Leo XIV undertook his evangelizing work as a missionary and bishop.
The initiative will soon include Apurimac region, where the head of the Catholic Church carried out his work as well.
"This is a route that not only passes through streets and churches, but also through the memory, faith, and hope of a people who never stopped dreaming and can now proudly say that we have a Peruvian pope," she said, noting that this initiative serves as a tribute to Pope Leo XIV.
