The Peruvian Army, through the Colonel Manuel Benjamin de la Barra Field Artillery Group No. 11, carried out the Challapalca 2025 artillery tactical exercise in Tacna region, with the participation of a delegation from the United States Army's 1st Security Force Assistance Brigade (1st SFAB).
Challapalca —located at over 4,320 meters above sea level— was the setting for a series of tactical maneuvers aimed at integrating procedures.
These included a map-based exercise, tactical deployment of the Artillery Group for combat, fire support coordination, and assessment of operational capabilities in combat simulations.
The training featured unit readiness, movement to the forward assembly area, nighttime occupation of the position area, and the deployment of the target acquisition system, forward observers, and communication equipment at the command and observation posts, respectively.

Officers, non-commissioned officers, and enlisted personnel from both nations took part in the various exercises, which allowed for the standardization of techniques, tactics, and procedures, as well as the promotion of interoperability between allied armed forces.
The U.S. delegation expressed its appreciation for the professionalism and discipline of Peruvian artillery personnel, highlighting their high level of preparedness and the spirit of cooperation demonstrated throughout the tactical exercise.

The Defense sector reaffirms its commitment to joint training with allied forces as part of its ongoing policy of preparedness and modernization aimed at ensuring national security and defense.
