Peru: President Boluarte supervises deployment of helicopters to combat forest fires

The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Thursday supervised the deployment of helicopters and other aircraft in Pajarillo district, San Martin region, where they are supplied to then transport water to the affected areas and combat forest fires.

"I call on the people who are causing the fires to reflect, as they are not only causing harm to families and wildlife but also to Peru," Mrs. Boluarte said from San Martin, where she continued with fire mitigation operations in the affected districts.

In the northern region, the top official also supervised the deployment of aircraft using the Bambi Bucket system that immediately travelled to extinguish the fires in the affected districts of the area.

Earlier on Thursday, at the San Martin Regional Emergency Operations Center, the Head of State, along with regional and National Civil Defense Institute (Indeci) officials, evaluated the measures to mitigate the nine active outbreaks.

In this region, over 70% of incidents have been extinguished thanks to interventions coordinated by the Government.
