The Government, through the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM), appointed Diplomatic Service Ambassador Ana Maria Liliana Sanchez Vargas de Rios as Peru's High Representative for the Accession Process to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

This designation was made official on Thursday via Supreme Resolution No. 013-2025-PCM, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano.

The appointment of Sanchez Vargas de Rios, who serves as senior advisor to the Deputy-Ministerial Office of Foreign Affairs, will be effective as of February 1, 2025. Likewise, she will retain her post.

It also specified that, for the purposes of fulfilling the role of High Representative, as provided for in Article 11 of Supreme Decree No. 041-2023-PCM, she will maintain functional dependency with the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM).

Additionally, the instrument provided for the termination, effective as of February 1, of the appointment of Diplomatic Service Ambassador Ana Rosa Maria Valdivieso Santa Maria to the aforementioned position and thanked her for the services rendered.

Moreover, it stated that the expenses to be incurred by the exercise of the planned designation will be financed from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' institutional budget.

Meanwhile, another measure amends Article 12 of the Supreme Decree, which declares Peru's OECD accession process of national interest.

This amendment indicated that the Permanent Representation of Peru to international economic organizations based in Paris (France), within the framework of the OECD accession process, provides the necessary support to the High Representative and the Multisectoral Commission through the technical secretariat, and exercises any representation functions that may be required before said body.

The supreme resolutions are signed by the President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte; Cabinet Chief Gustavo Adrianzen; and Foreign Affairs Minister Elmer Schialer.
