Peru in Latin American Context
Regionally, Peru continues to grow as a higher education player, albeit with less representation than countries like Brazil (380 mentions), Chile (229), and Mexico (185), while Peru registers only 52 mentions.
Nonetheless, Peru boasts the highest percentage of improvements in faculty areas in Latin America (57%), compared to Brazil (-41%), Chile (-38%), and Mexico (-34%), demonstrating a progressive enhancement in academic quality.

The QS rankings reflect both the advances and challenges facing Peruvian universities. PUCP's consolidation in key fields —particularly mining engineering and archaeology, which resonate with the country's economic and cultural identity— stands out as a major strength.
However, the relatively low number of Peruvian universities in the rankings and ongoing challenges in scientific research output continue to affect their international profile.
The QS Quacquarelli Symonds report indicates that Peru is on a steady growth trajectory in higher education, even in a highly competitive global environment. Sustaining this progress will require continued investment in research, efforts to bolster academic reputation, and stronger collaboration with the business sector.
