"We greet our beloved journalists, men and women of the press who report with integrity and objectivity," reads the message.
Similarly, the Presidential Office noted that the commitment of press members to the truth "is essential to strengthening our democracy and guaranteeing the right to information for thousands of Peruvians."
"Thanks for your dedication and professionalism!" the message concluded.
By Supreme Decree No. 2521, Peruvian Journalists' Day has been commemorated every October 1 since 1953.
This is in celebration of October 1, 1790, the date on which young Spanish journalist Jaime Bausate y Meza founded "Diario de Lima," considered the first printed newspaper in the country.
Therefore, Journalists' Day is celebrated nationwide on this date.
