The Board of Supreme Prosecutors announced that it remains in permanent session, reaffirming that it holds the exclusive authority to elect the Attorney General.
The supreme prosecutors reaffirmed their institutional autonomy, in accordance with Article 158 of Peru's Political Constitution, the statement noted.
"As part of the strengthening and unity among the members of the highest governing body of the Public Prosecutor's Office, and as an example of institutional cohesion, they reaffirm that it is the Board of Supreme Prosecutors —and not any other State body— that holds the exclusive authority to elect the Attorney General," it indicated.
