Remarks were made during the ceremony marking the 34th anniversary of the Peruvian National Police (PNP) Anti-Drug Directorate (Dirandro).
Within this framework, the top official stated that drugs destroy families, pose a problem for the country, incite violence, and undermine the peace and tranquility of citizens.
"Today, our government reaffirms its support for the important work carried out by this specialized unit in the fight against illicit drug trafficking and organized crime — a relentless fight in which we move forward with courage and determination," Mrs. Boluarte indicated.
The Head of State specified that, in the first six months of 2025, Dirandro carried out nearly 9,000 police operations, arrested over 5,500 individuals, and seized 141 tons of drugs —including cocaine paste, cocaine sulfate, and cocaine hydrochloride —three times the amount confiscated during the same period last year.
"In the same vein, 56 clandestine airstrips and 630 drug-processing labs were destroyed —actions that clearly represent significant blows to illicit drug trafficking and the criminal activity surrounding it," Mrs. Boluarte pointed out.
These actions, she said, also reflect the commitment and professionalism of Dirandro personnel in promoting citizen security, strengthening democracy, and advancing the goal of living in a peaceful country.
Regarding coca crop eradication, the top official stated that the government has opted for alternative cultivations such as cacao, coffee, and fruits grown in those regions.
Moreover, President Boluarte reiterated her firm commitment to continue strengthening Dirandro's operational, technological, and intelligence capacity in order to give greater momentum to this fight.
"We are aware that there is still a long way to go, but nothing will stop our determination to continue laying the foundations for a drug-free and peaceful Peru, to keep promoting family unity, and to keep pursuing development in the heart of our homeland," she concluded.
