Peru: PCM congratulates Maido for being named World's Best Restaurant

The Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) congratulated chef Mitsuharu 'Micha' Tsumura and his team at the Lima-based Maido restaurant, which was named the top globally in 'The World's 50 Best 2025' ranking.

"Peru and its cuisine are the best in the world! The PCM congratulates Mitsuharu 'Micha' Tsumura and the entire Maido team for being named the top restaurant globally in 'The World's 50 Best 2025' ranking," the institution stated on X.


The award ceremony for the aforementioned ranking took place in Turin, Italy, on Thursday.

During the event, the Peruvian Nikkei restaurant was also recognized as the best restaurant in South America.

'Micha' Tsumura, who dedicated the award to the Maido team and his family, highlighted in his speech the power of gastronomy as a unifying force amid differences.

"Hospitality and gastronomy can do amazing things; they can make dreams come true and solve many problems," the Peruvian chef expressed.
