Peru strongly condemns the terrorist attack at Mar Elias Church in Damascus, which left 25 dead and 63 injured.

The Peruvian government expresses its condolences to the victims' families, as well as to the Syrian Government and people.

Peru joins the statement by United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, emphasizing that those responsible for such acts of terrorism must be held accountable. It also supports his call for a thorough investigation.

"The Government of Peru reiterates its commitment to the fight against terrorism and condemns all acts, methods, and practices of terrorism, in all its forms and manifestations, wherever they occur and whoever commits them," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a communiqué on Tuesday evening.

It also reaffirms its hope that mutual understanding and dialogue will lead to lasting peace and unity in the Syrian Arab Republic.
