This gathering was chaired by the Director General of the Asia and Oceania Department, Ambassador Fernando Quiros.
The diplomat underscored that during APEC Peru 2024 the President of the Republic received two State visits, five official visits, and held seven bilateral meetings with heads of state and government, consolidating strategic alliances and strengthening our cooperation with the Asia-Pacific region.
He stressed that the Special Monitoring Mechanism aims to ensure the effective implementation of these agreements and maximize their benefits.
This session sought to identify and prioritize accords and commitments that can be implemented this year and those planned for subsequent ones.
Foreign Affairs Ministry officials also presented the Mechanism's work plan, which includes regular meetings with accredited embassies, political consultations, and strategic dialogues with key partners, as well as the planning of official visits to partner countries.
Technical representatives from 26 public institutions participated in this event, including those of 19 ministries and entities involved, such as the National Council for Science, Technology, and Innovation (Concytec); the National Commission for Development and Life without Drugs (Devida); the Center for Training in Tourism (Cenfotur); the National Agrarian Health Service (Senasa); the Private Investment Promotion Agency (ProInversion); the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (PromPeru); the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD); and the National Service of Fisheries Health (Sanipes).
It is worth noting that during the bilateral meetings within the framework of APEC, Peru reached more than 70 concrete commitments for the country's development, including 43 agreements in key sectors such as trade, defense, education, mining, and tourism.
