The first shipment of Peruvian blueberries from the 2025–2026 season, shipped through the Port of Chancay, has arrived in China. The journey took less time compared to shipments made before the terminal had become operational, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

The first container of Peruvian blueberries this season, exported by Fruitist (formerly Agrovision), arrived on June 28 —10 days faster than usual. Before the Port of Chancay had become operational, the journey used to take between 33 and 35 days.

The arrival of the Peruvian fruit was celebrated in China with a special ceremony held at the Huizhan Wholesale Market in Shanghai.

It was attended by key figures from the industry and the Peruvian delegation.

Strategic location

During the event, the strategic importance of Chancay Port in strengthening trade relations between Peru and China was highlighted.

It was also emphasized that shorter travel time ensures that agricultural products reach Chinese consumers in fresher condition.

Peru's Consul in Shanghai, David Gamarra, underscored the significant opportunity that Chancay Port represents for the South American country, particularly in terms of the ability to ship larger volumes of Peruvian fruit to the Chinese market in less time.

In turn, Yanitza Curonisy, a Peruvian national and Quality and Assurance Director at Fruitist Asia, highlighted the Huizhan Wholesale Market’s role in distributing Peruvian blueberries across China.

"This inaugural shipment through the Port of Chancay heralds a bright future for Peruvian blueberry exports to China, as well as for other fruits already present in that market, such as oranges, avocados, and grapes," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded.
