The President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, currently delivers an Address to the Nation on the occasion of the 204th Anniversary of Peruvian Independence.

This event takes place at Congress headquarters in the capital city, Lima.

Within this framework, the top official's message to the nation addresses the state of the country and issues main announcements for the coming year exercising power.

The Presidential Independence Day Speech is —without any doubt— the most important activity on the occasion.

Independence Day

Liberator Jose de San Martin proclaimed the independence of Peru from Spain on July 28, 1821.

Thus, this day serves to commemorate the nation's independence.

The independence process successfully came to an end with the Battle of Ayacucho in December 1824.
