Peru's Ambassador presents credentials in Czech Republic

During a formal ceremony held at Prague Castle, diplomat Luis Escalante Schuler presented his credentials to Czech President Petr Pavel, accrediting him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Peru to the recipient State.

Following the ceremony, the envoy held a meeting with the Czech Head of State.

At the session, both sides highlighted the interest of Peru and the Czech Republic in strengthening trade relations and promoting greater tourism exchange.

President Pavel expressed particular interest in matters of defense and cybersecurity.

He also welcomed the efforts of both governments to sign the recent Working Holiday Program Agreement, aimed at young Czechs and Peruvians, which will enhance cultural exchange.

In turn, Ambassador Escalante commended the excellent state of the century-old bilateral relations.

Likewise, he thanked the Czech Republic for its continued support of Peru's aspiration to become a member of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

Diplomatic relations between Peru and the Czech Republic were established on July 11, 1922.

On May 8, 2025, the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs appointed Luis Escalante Schuler as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Czech Republic.
