On the occasion of the
, a delegation from the All-China Journalists Association (ACJA) visited Editora Peru's facilities in the Peruvian capital, Lima.
At the
headquarters of the Official Gazette El Peruano and Andina News Agency, the delegation was received by News Media Director and General Manager at Editora Peru, Felix Paz, and Official Publications Manager, Ricardo Montero.
The Chinese delegation included ACJA Executive Secretary Wu Xu; China Petroleum Daily Co. Ltd. General Manager Geng Yufeng; and Shenzhen Media Group Vice President and Editor-in-Chief Deng Yandong.
Also present were Heilongjiang Broadcasting Station Vice President Jin Wei and ACJA's International Liaison Department Division Director Wang Chuanjun.
Technology and communication
During the meeting, visitors and hosts exchanged experiences on the use of technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in media work.
Editora Peru's General Manager explained that the Official Gazette El Peruano and Andina News Agency are currently in a "digital exploration phase," working with platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, DeepSeek, and Qwen Chat —the latter being used in China.
In this context, Paz emphasized that these technological tools "should complement journalistic work, not replace human journalists."
Referring to a previous visit to the Chinese city of Kashi, he noted that there he observed how AI is integrated into news processes.
He pointed out that, both in Kashi and in Lima, "digital transformation in the media is a growing necessity."
Strengthening exchange
Participants in the meeting also highlighted that, within the framework of the APEC 2024 Leaders' Week in Lima, the President of China, Xi Jinping, published an official article in El Peruano, underscoring the outlet's importance as a platform for international communication.
The Chinese representatives highlighted the hospitality they received at Editora Peru and expressed their desire to "continue strengthening exchange" between the two institutions —culturally, journalistically, and technologically.
