The Ministry of Defense is continuing to implement its Strategic Plan for the Management of Weapons, Ammunition, and Explosives, aimed at strengthening the safe, efficient, and responsible administration of military materiel, reducing risks to society, and promoting international security standards.

In this context, Deputy Defense Resources Minister Adolfo Herrera Orlandini chaired a working meeting with representatives of the United States Embassy, led by its Political Counselor Daniel Villanueva, as well as with delegates from cooperating organizations providing technical assistance to this process.

During the session, the Director General of Material Resources at the Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General Paul Vera Delzo, outlined the progress made under the plan.

He emphasized that its implementation is part of a coordinated effort by the Ministry aimed at closing structural gaps within the Armed Forces through improvements in regulations, infrastructure, equipment, inventory control, traceability, security, and the training of personnel involved.

Likewise, General Vera Delzo underscored the importance of international support in this process.

He also highlighted the key role of the United States Embassy and specialized non-governmental organizations, such as the Mines Advisory Group (MAG), Norwegian People's Aid (NPA), and the Ammunition Management Advisory Team (AMAT), whose technical expertise contributes significantly to achieving the plan's objectives.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of comments and observations between representatives of the Defense Ministry and the cooperating entities to strengthen inter-institutional coordination and optimize the implementation of the planned actions.

The Deputy Defense Resources Ministry, through the Directorate General of Material Resources, is leading this process under the guidelines of Defense Minister Walter Astudillo, reaffirming the Ministry's commitment to efficiency, security, and continuous improvement in military materiel management.
