The President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, on Tuesday called on regional governors to continue working with determination and commitment for the country, prioritizing the common good over any partisan interests.

Mrs. Boluarte delivered this message during the 8th Regional State Council, held in the city of Iquitos, capital of Loreto region. The event was attended by around 16 regional governors.

"I call on regional governors to work with determination and commitment, prioritizing the common good of the population over partisan interests. From the government, we do not turn a blind eye to problems; we face them firmly to find solutions. Together with you, we will continue prioritizing the projects needed by the regions," she stated.

Likewise, the top official indicated that this close cooperation with regional governors seeks to achieve the development of each region. Thus, she urged them to work until the very last minute of their terms, as that is what they were elected by the people to do.

Furthermore, the President said that Regional State Councils aim to bring the coordinated work between the Executive Branch and regional governments to the population.

"From Iquitos (Loreto region), I want to address the brothers and sisters of the homeland. If Peru has grown over these (past) two years and months of government (…), it is because we have understood that in unity and peace, the country can grow," she stated.

Moreover, the President indicated that, in response to the request made by Loreto Region Governor Jorge Rene Chavez, she has ordered the establishment of a technical roundtable in the region next week to find a solution to the energy problem.

Similarly, she explained that during her administration, more budget resources have been allocated and more investment projects have been carried out in each Peruvian region, with Loreto being one of those that has received the most investment.

"We maintain constant coordination with you and hold meetings such as this Regional State Council in Iquitos, but ministers and officials must also attend to the local authorities who seek them out," Mrs. Boluarte said.

"The economic growth of Peru is not the result of autopilot, nor of a single entity. The economic growth of 2024, 2025, and 2026, as well as that projected for the next government administration, is the consequence of government policies, in which regional governments play a strategic role," she added.
