Marco is a city located in Jauja province, Junin region.
The ceremony took place at the Government Palace Courtyard of Honor in Lima.
It brought together authorities from that part of the country, along with dancers who staged a demonstration showcasing the traditional celebration.
The Head of State was accompanied by Culture Minister Alfredo Luna Briceño, who addressed those in attendance.
The Marco Carnival is recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage and has been declared part of Peru’s National Cultural Heritage.
It is one of the oldest and most representative celebrations in Junin region.
