The
President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, met on Thursday with
Central Reserve Bank (BCR) Governor Julio Velarde at the Government Palace in Lima, as part of the government's commitment to preserving stability and macroeconomic rules.
According to the Presidential Office, the meeting aimed to prioritize the national agenda.
Following the event, at approximately 6:32 p.m. (local time), the Head of State escorted the BCR chief to the main entrance and bade him farewell.
Immediately afterward, Velarde boarded a vehicle and left the Government Palace without making statements to the media.
Earlier on Thursday, the Presidential Office reported that the meeting reaffirmed the administration's commitment to monetary stability and strengthening the economy for the benefit of the entire population.
In previous remarks, the top official praised Velarde's performance at the helm of the BCR. Balcazar added he would hold talks with the official, whom he described as a benchmark in monetary management.
Other meetings
According to the Presidential Office schedule, the Head of State met in the afternoon with the Chief of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces, Army General Cesar Augusto Briceño, as well as the General Commanders of the Army, Gen. Oswaldo Martin Calle Talledo; the Navy, Adm. Javier Bravo de Rueda; and the Air Force, Air Gen. Mario Raul Contreras.
In the morning, President Balcazar held a meeting with lawmakers Waldemar Cerron, Segundo Montalvo, Maria Agüero, Abel Reyes, Kelly Portalatino, Isaac Mita, and Maria Taype.
