Peru's President: Agreements with China foster shared path of prosperity and development

In welcoming the official visit of China's President Xi Jinping, Peruvian counterpart Dina Boluarte, on Thursday reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening and expanding the economic and cultural ties with the Asian giant.

During the meeting held at the Government Palace, Mrs. Boluarte stated that this marks "a new chapter in the history of our bilateral relations, which we began cultivating 53 years ago and have upheld firmly through our comprehensive strategic partnership."

"This occasion symbolizes our friendship and cooperation bonds, reflecting our firm commitment to working together towards a shared path of prosperity and development," she expressed.

Within this framework, the top official affirmed that a "momentous step" will be taken toward that goal due to the signing of the Free Trade Agreement Optimization Protocol between Peru and the People's Republic of China, which took place on the occasion.

This agreement aims to "promote the export of services and more value-added products, further strengthening our relationship," she expressed.

Chancay Megaport

The Peruvian Head of State also indicated that the Chancay Megaport inauguration "will consolidate our nation as a bridge between Latin America and Asia, facilitating more dynamic and efficient transoceanic trade."

"This project reflects how Chinese investment and mutual cooperation can serve as engines for sustainable development and progress for our nations," she expressed.

While addressing the Mr. Xi Jinping, Mrs. Boluarte noted that his presence "reaffirms our commitment to strengthening and expanding our ties in the political, economic, and cultural spheres."
