So far, 31,665,810 doses of the vaccine against COVID-19 have been administered in Peru, the
Ministry of Health (Minsa) said on Sunday.
It should be pointed out that the target population in Peru consists of men and women over 12 years of age, that is, 28,024,250 people.
According to the National Single Health Data Repository (Reunis) of Minsa, as of October 17 at 12:00 p.m. (local time), the two doses of the vaccine have been administered to 13,926,880 people, reaching over 50% of the target population.
The report also indicates that a total of 17,697,059 people have received one dose and are still expected to be fully immunized with the two jabs.
According to Misa, the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine has been given to 41,871 health care workers on the frontline of the COVID-19 response since October 15.
Currently, everyone aged 18 years and above are eligible to get vaccinated. However, those aged 17 who turn 18 years old this year can also be inoculated.
Minsa's Immunization Director Gabriela Jimenez explained that those planning to attend vaccination centers from Monday to Friday shall check their appointment information by visiting the government's official "Pongo el Hombro" (I Lend a Shoulder) platform.
Minsa's call is also open to people aged 18 and above who need their first dose of the vaccine, citizens aged 34 and more who are due for their second dose, people who have not received a first or second dose, people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, as well as overweight people and those with class 3 obesity.
Women with at least 12 weeks of gestation, teachers, as well as people with severe mental disorder and neurodevelopmental disorder are also welcome to attend the vaccination centers.
In addition, people aged 12-17 with comorbidities are eligible to participate in the Vacunafest. This group includes people with rare diseases, cancer, Down syndrome, as well as those who have undergone organ transplants.
