The Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Peru and Colombia, Peter Camino Cannock and Daniel Avila Camacho, met in Lima on Thursday to assess the current state of bilateral relations and advance their deepening, considering the bicentennial ties of historical and cultural brotherhood that have united the two nations.

At this meeting, the deputy ministers held a frank and cordial dialogue in which they assessed the issues on the bilateral agenda and the importance of promoting them at the highest level, with the aim of fostering the well-being of both nations, especially their border populations.

During the gathering, Camino Cannock and Avila Camacho agreed to the reciprocal appointment of ambassadors in both countries and to facilitate a meeting of the foreign affairs ministers in the following weeks.

Similarly, the officials approved a roadmap for scheduling meetings of the main bilateral mechanisms, which will be presented at the gathering of foreign ministers.

Likewise, the diplomats underscored the need to coordinate actions in border development and integration, as well as in environmental, migration, security, and defense matters.

They also agreed on the need to maintain a permanent dialogue within regional integration and coordination bodies.
