Peru's FA Min: APEC Leaders to start landing in Peru around Dec 10

17:02 | Lima, Nov. 1.

Foreign Affairs Minister Elmer Schialer indicated that Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum leaders will start to arrive in Peru around November 10, as they will make state and official visits.

"They will start arriving around November 10 and 11; some leaders are coming earlier because they want to make an official visit first. We will host five official visits and two state visits," the ambassador indicated.

Leaders' Week

During Leaders' Week —from November 9 to 16— a series of meetings will be held that will revolve around three axes: the Leaders' meeting, a section with guests from non-APEC economies, and another with international economic and financial organizations, the diplomat explained.

Similarly, there will be a Leaders' Retreat, where only the heads will speak among themselves, without the participation of their foreign ministers.

Subsequently, the APEC CEO Summit 2024 will be held, with the presence of the main businesspeople from the bloc.

According to him, international businesspeople from Tiktok, Huawei, mining companies, food processing companies, large transnational companies, and others will attend the business summit to learn about what Peru is offering for investments.

Prior to the Leaders' Meeting, the trade and foreign affairs ministers from the 21 economies will meet in a joint session, where a statement will be approved which will outline a course of action for the leaders to follow.

Peru is hosting APEC for the third time after the 2008 and 2016 editions.
