BCR: Peru's non-traditional exports up 12.8% in Sept 2025

Non-traditional exports grew 12.8% in September 2025 to US$2.135 billion due to a 22.7% increase in volume, mainly from the agricultural, fishing, and non-metallic mining sectors, the Central Reserve Bank (BCR) reported.

From January to September, these shipments totaled US$16.394 billion, a 17.1% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

This growth was driven by higher export volumes up 21.7%.

Within this framework, fishing products (44.1%) and agricultural goods (32.8%) stood out.

Regionally, Peru recorded the highest growth in non-traditional exports during the 12-month period ending in September, with a 17.4% increase, above Colombia (+12.9%), Mexico (+7.3%), Chile (+6%), and Brazil (+5.4%).

Non-traditional agricultural exports up 16.3%

Last September, non-traditional agricultural exports reached US$1.242 billion, a 16.3% year-on-year increase, supported by a 38% rise in shipped volumes.

Higher shipments of avocados (+143.9%), blueberries (+55.5%), cacao (+45.8%), and other frozen fruits (+65.8%) stood out, the issuing entity reported.

Non-traditional fishing exports up 37.9%

Non-traditional fishing exports totaled US$177 million, a 37.9% increase compared to September 2024, driven by a 35.3% rise in shipped volumes due to greater availability of giant squid biomass.

Shipments of frozen squid (+690%), canned squid (+626.7%), tuna preserves, whole frozen prawns, and shrimp stood out.
