announced on Wednesday that the government is preparing a bill on national sovereignty, aimed at providing the legal framework necessary for its defense, within the framework of the Peruvian State's essential duties established in Article 44 of the Constitution.
"We are aware that new threats to our sovereignty have emerged, and it is imperative that the State defends itself not only in terms of territorial integrity but also in ensuring the full applicability of our Constitution and our laws," Mrs. Boluarte expressed.
The Head of State participated in the ceremony for National Defense Day.
Within this framework, the top official emphasized that the government will not allow "international organizations or interests contrary to our national will to interfere in our sovereign decisions."
"In this context, under the constitutional framework, a law is required to extend the scope of this legal concept to contemporary reality so that Peru can assert, without ambiguity or concessions, its right to determine its own destiny," she stated.
The President clarified that defending sovereignty is not an isolated act, but a daily guarantee of freedom, democracy, and the future of coming generations.
The top official said that National Defense Day is an occasion that honors the courage of those who safeguard sovereignty and security.
She added that it reaffirms the nation's commitment to defend the homeland, preserve peace, consolidate democracy, and ensure the well-being of Peruvians.
"In this context, today, on behalf of the Peruvian people, I express my deepest gratitude to the men and women who, in military or police uniform, dedicate their lives to defending Peru. Thanks to them, the sovereignty of our nation is secured," Mrs. Boluarte emphasized.
"This Andean, Apurimeña, President will do whatever is necessary to defend you here and in international forums with firmness and determination. The days of mistreatment and neglect for members of our Armed Forces and National Police are behind us. Today, you have your place in history, and this government recognizes, vindicates, and honors you," she added.
Tribute to Tacna
Likewise, President Boluarte paid tribute to the heroic and courageous people of Tacna, who will patriotically celebrate their reincorporation into the homeland with a flag procession tomorrow.
"The same flag that flew in 1929 is now displayed and carried with pride by the women of Tacna, reminding us that dignity, resilience, and national identity are stronger than any attempt at subjugation," she stated.
The top official said that Tacna is also a symbol of unity and hope, as its history reminds us that peoples who defend their roots and identity with love can never be subdued.
"Brothers and sisters from across our national territory, may the example of Tacna inspire us to remain united in the face of any adversity. History has taught us that disunity has been the cause of our defeats," she expressed.
