on Friday evening lamented the passing of filmmaker, screenwriter, and photography director from southern Puno region, Oscar Catacora, due to "a sudden health problem" while he was filming a new movie in El Collao province.
Via Twitter, Mincul expressed its heartfelt condolences to Catacora's relatives and loved ones, noting that his debut titled 'Wiñaypacha' (Eternity) was the first Peruvian movie entirely filmed in Aymara language and praised not only in this country but also abroad.
"It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of our director Oscar Catacora, which occurred on November 26 due to a sudden health problem while he was filming his new movie (...),"
Cine Aymara production company reported on Facebook.
The company added that "it is the family's wish that the funeral be held in strict privacy in Oscar's birthplace. However, we will be attentive to the condolences by all the people who knew him. His example will encourage us to continue with his legacy and exalt his memory."
