Peru: President mourns death of Air Force helicopter crew

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Wednesday lamented the death of five crew members of a Peruvian Air Force helicopter, which fell in Huarochiri province (Lima region).


"They gave their lives fulfilling their duty in favor of citizens most in need," Mr. Castillo expressed on Twitter.

Likewise, the Head of State expressed condolences to the victims' relatives and colleagues.


In turn, Prime Minister Mirtha Vasquez expressed her heartfelt condolences to the families of the five crew members.

The Cabinet chief pointed out that they had lost their lives serving the homeland and attending to those who need it most.

This morning, the Peruvian Air Force reported the discovery of the helicopter that went missing in Lima region's mountains last Tuesday. It also lamented the death of five people.

The deceased Air Force members were identified as Commander Luis Antonio Cordova Elias, Captain Irving Espinoza Avila, Captain Ruben Fernando Moscol Puertas, First Technician Alejandro Paz Mio, and Third Non-Commissioned Officer Edy Rolando Loayza Llontoy.
