Likewise, the government official noted that this projection reflects the Peruvian economic strength and the coordination between government policy and the private sector.
"In 2024, we achieved over US$74 billion in exports. This 2025, we project surpassing US$80 billion, with growth already evident in the first half (of the year) thanks to the dynamism of sectors such as agro-exports and the increasing participation of our regions," she indicated on Thursday.
In this regard, the Cabinet member emphasized that the opening of new destinations is key to sustaining this momentum.
Minister Leon noted that over the past year Peru completed the optimization of its Free Trade Agreement with China, in addition to signing agreements with Hong Kong, Guatemala, and Indonesia (a market of 280 million potential consumers).
She added that Peru currently has 23 trade agreements in force, granting preferential access to 58 economies that together account for 82% of global GDP.
On another note, the minister mentioned that she took part in the Business Networking event, organized as part of the II International Forum on Export Diversification "Arequipa, Quality that Conquers Markets." It brought together more than 300 entrepreneurs from southern Peru.
"These spaces are essential for our micro and small exporters to realize that their offerings not only have a place in one market, but can expand to multiple destinations," Leon explained.
"We are accompanying companies to ensure that the interest generated translates into actual exports," she added.
Moreover, Minister Leon mentioned that the fifth edition of the "Pisco for the World" program was also launched in Arequipa, aiming to strengthen the internationalization of Peru's flagship spirit.
"There are many countries where our flagship drink is making strong inroads, and we need to position it even further," she emphasized.
