Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD) Chairman Federico Tong held an important meeting with the
Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Peru, Song Yang.
The officials discussed sports cooperation initiatives that will bring significant benefits to the South American country's high-performance athletes and promote mass participation in athletic activities.
The meeting took place within the framework of the upcoming visit to Peru by General Administration of Sport of China (GASC) Director Gao Zhidan.
Athletic cooperation topics were explored during the meeting, including: the exchange of athletes; sharing experiences in sports management and development; innovation and technology applied to sports sciences; business cooperation in high-level certified sports equipment and materials; and the development of modular multi-sport infrastructure.
Peru is consolidating itself as a sports hub in Latin America and worldwide, thanks to its advanced athletic infrastructure and the successful organization of South American, Pan American, and world events.
It is also preparing to host the Ayacucho-Lima 2025 Bolivarian Games, as well as the Lima 2027 Pan American and Parapan American Games.
In this regard, both the Republic of Peru and the People's Republic of China have hosted major international events and share the vision that sports can be a driver of national pride, social development, and tourism promotion.
The coordination between both countries takes place within a framework of cooperation, friendship, and sports, reinforcing the multilateral approach promoted by the IPD for the future of Peruvian athletic activities.
The IPD also reaffirms its commitment to consolidating Peru as a regional sports destination that integrates high-performance athletics, healthy nutrition, and world-class infrastructure.
