President Dina Boluarte on Monday announced that she will propose to the candidates for the 2026 general elections the signing of the Pact for Peru to ensure the continuity of the projects undertaken by her administration.

"Just as we have a Pact for Education, we will now propose a Pact for Peru with the candidates aspiring to lead the country in the 2026 elections, so that the construction of schools, hospitals, and airports is no longer halted," Mrs. Boluarte stated.

The pact -she said- also aims to ensure that projects are carried out without corruption, a problem that has stalled investment projects for several years.

"Millions of Soles belonging to all Peruvians are tied up in those projects delayed by corruption. Peru deserves unity, hard work, and commitment instead of pettiness," she noted.

Start of School Year

The President made this announcement during the inauguration of the Bicentennial School I.E. No. 2100 Juan Velasco Alvarado in Lima's Comas district, which will provide quality education to more than 1,060 primary education students.

With the school year approaching, the Head of State said that 100% of educational materials have already been distributed to educational institutions and High-Performance Schools.

"We are working to ensure that boys and girls have access to quality education. For the start of classes, the required materials for each subject are already in every school," she noted.

Likewise, the top official announced that over 25,000 teachers have been incorporated into the Public Teaching Career through a competitive process, raising the percentage of appointed teachers to 74% without lowering the standard for qualified educators.

"We are revolutionizing education. Our government has allocated —and this is truly historic— S/48 billion (US$13.13 billion) to education; this investment accounts for 5.1% of GDP. Thus, in 2025, we will not only continue leading economic growth but also give our children's education the place it deserves," she pointed out.

The President stated that her administration will continue executing projects until July 28, 2026, ensuring that the next government carries on the legacy left for education.

Within this framework, she reiterated that her "commitment to education is firm and resolute" and that nothing and no one will change it.

She also specified that the Bicentennial School I.E. No. 2100 Juan Velasco Alvarado is the 24th educational institution made available to students. It was built in less than a year thanks to an investment of S/48 million (US$13.13 million), without corruption.

"This year, we will inaugurate more than 44 modern schools like this one, fulfilling our commitment to delivering a total of 75 Bicentennial Schools," she concluded.
