Peru: President announces 53 tourism projects worth US$357 to strengthen sector

The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Friday announced the execution of 53 tourism investment projects worth a total of S/1.326 billion (US$357 million), with the aim of strengthening sustainable development and tourism infrastructure in Peru, which will benefit over 13 million people in 13 regions.

"Today, we are presenting 53 investment projects in tourism for a total amount of S/1,326 billion, with the aim of strengthening sustainable development and tourism infrastructure in our country," she stated. 

This announcement was made during the opening ceremony of the "Roadshow: Investments in Tourism 2025."

At this event, Mrs. Boluarte specified that of the 53 projects, 35 have been identified and prioritized in coordination with regional and local governments in Peruvian 13 regions.

According to estimates, these investments will benefit more than 13 million people, including tourists and local residents, the growth of tourism activity in various areas.

"(…) These initiatives aim to generate a positive impact on local economies and improve tourist experiences for 13 million people who will benefit directly and indirectly," she said.

Among the highlighted initiatives are the creation of the Añashuayco Theme Park in Arequipa region, the strengthening of tourism infrastructure in the northern resorts of Piura region, affected by recent sea swells, and improvements in destinations such as the Sacred Valley of the Incas, the Nor Yauyos-Cochas Landscape Reserve, and the Colca Valley.

In addition, the National Copesco Plan will lead the execution of 18 projects in 14 regions with an investment of S/306 million (US$82 million) that would provide broad benefits to the communities, according to Mrs. Boluarte.

"These investments seek to connect business opportunities with the communities that need them most," she added.
