From January to September in the present year, Telefónica, Claro, Entel, Viettel and Directv together invested 1,730 million soles (around US$ 475 million), an increase of 4.1% compared to the same length of time 2023, reported today the Supervisory Body for Private Investment in Telecommunications (Osiptel).
According to the Financial Performance Analysis of the Telecommunications Sector report prepared by Osiptel, in the length of time referred Claro had a share of 40.6 % of the total investments made, followed by Entel with 27.2 %.
Telefónica's share of the total investments was around 19 %. While Viettel ranked fourth with 11.8 % and was the company that reported the highest investment growth as of September 2024 (36.7 %).
The income generated by the main operating companies in the Telecommunications sector reached 14,542 million soles (around US$ 3.8 billion) from January to September of this year, 1.4 % more than the figure recorded in the same lenght of time 2023. Without considering the income from the Equipment Sales and Rental business line, the increase was 2.4 %.
This growth was driven mainly by higher income in the Mobile Services business lines (50.2 % share), Fixed Internet, and Data Transmission and Circuit Rental.
At the level of operating companies, Claro had a 34.4 % share of the total income of the companies analyzed; followed by Telefónica with 31.1 %, Entel (18.4 %), Viettel (8.7 %), Directv (2.1 %) and the rest of the companies (5.2 %).
