Peru, through its Foreign Affairs Ministry, expressed solidarity with the people and Government of the United States of America for the emergency facing the State of California due to wildfires.

Our country lamented the consequences of these disasters, which have so far caused the death of at least five people, the evacuation of more than 80,000 citizens, and considerable material damage.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reported that the Consulate General of Peru in Los Angeles is constantly monitoring the situation. It added that there is no record of any Peruvians affected to date.

"Likewise, it (the Consulate in Los Angeles) remains attentive to the needs of those compatriots through its service channels," the ministry stated via X on Wednesday afternoon.

Lastly, the government agency reminded the Peruvian community in the U.S. that in case of emergency, they can contact the consular entity at +1-213-235-6490 and via e-mail: asistencia@conperla.org.

Wildfires have occurred in Los Angeles, California, in recent hours, spreading rapidly, affecting more than 1,500 hectares, and putting at risk the urban areas near the three fire fronts currently registered.
