Peru: Exports totaled US$75.916 billion, up 12.4% in 2024

08:36 | Lima, Feb. 19.

Total Peruvian exports reached US$75.916 billion in 2024, representing a nominal 12.4% growth, the Central Reserve Bank (BCR) reported.

The issuing entity stressed that this growth was driven by both improved international prices and higher volumes shipped around the world.

Shipped Volumes

The BCR specified that export volumes grew by 4.3% year-on-year in 2024 due to the recovery in fishmeal and fish oil production, the growth in gold exports, and higher natural gas sales.

The recovery of non-traditional agricultural and textile sectors, along with increased international demand for chemical and iron-steel products, also favored export growth.

Export Volumes

The BCR explained that export prices increased 7.8% annually in 2024 due to high mining commodity prices and the increased cost of non-traditional agricultural products.

The latter was due to adverse weather conditions in 2024, which reduced Peruvian fruit supply in the global market, mainly at the beginning of the year.

The issuing entity added that exports totaled US$6.986 billion in December 2024 alone, up 9.2% year-on-year, driven by a 9.4% increase in the average export price, in line with high international metal prices.
