At the site, the Head of State said "the interests of the homeland will always be above everything else."
"This is how my Government understands it, which is why we never cease in our firm commitment to provide well-being to our compatriots. This year, 2024, we will recover our economy as we promised, and we are strengthening it with more investment, jobs, and emblematic (public) works such as the recently-inaugurated Chancay Megaport," she expressed.
Similarly, the top official underscored that Peru fulfilled its task at the latest Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum and "raised the country's name very high as a reliable partner for foreign investments."
"Because more investment and coordination with the private sector will enable us to generate more job opportunities for Peruvians," she added.
Regarding the Battle of Tarapaca, which took place on November 27, 1879, the President said it was a military confrontation that stands as a symbol of defense and sovereignty, as well as a demonstration of Peruvians' moral strength.
"Despite the fatigue that prevailed among the troops and the scarce weapons we had, courage and love for the red and white of our flag, which flies beautifully, prevailed," Mrs. Boluarte stated.
"It was a critical situation that prompted an energetic response, led by Andres Avelino Caceres, who fought alongside another great figure, Francisco Bolognesi," she added.
The top official also highlighted that another key figure was Second Lieutenant Mariano Santos, who "taught us a lesson in honor, dedication, and gratitude that we, Peruvians, should take as an example."
"The times of the Battle of Tarapaca are over and will never be repeated. We are now living a chapter of peace between sister countries. These are times of cooperation for the joint development of nations. Internally, we continue working to serve more Peruvians, guided by the principles of unity, respect for democracy, the rule of law, and institutionalism, precepts upheld by our national heroes," she concluded.
