on Wednesday affirmed that her administration remains firmly committed to addressing the major environmental challenges, adding that actions will be promoted to preserve Peruvian fauna and flora.
"We live in times of major environmental challenges, to which our government remains firm in its commitment and daily work to promote actions that favor the conservation of the flora and fauna of our wonderful Peru," Mrs. Boluarte stated during the presentation ceremony of the Antonio Brack Egg National Environmental Award, 2024 edition.
The Head of State underscored that key steps were taken last year to protect the environment and announced that this path will continue in 2025.
The top official mentioned that, during Peru's Presidency of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in 2024, the country promoted a regional environmental agenda for collective action against climate change, with an emphasis on sustainability and the economy.
She also highlighted the progress made in implementing public policies to promote the transition towards a low-carbon economy and more responsible management of natural resources, as well as the approval of the National Strategy on Climate Change by 2050.
"Peru has a unique natural and cultural capital that fills us with pride, and which we must protect in the rainforest, coast, and Andes. Peru has incomparable biodiversity," she underlined.
In this regard, President Boluarte welcomed the experiences of the Antonio Brack Egg National Environmental Award winners, as they make building a more resilient and sustainable future possible.
"Congratulations to each and every one of you. The initiatives we are awarding today demonstrate that we have creative compatriots who are building solutions to promote sustainable development, solutions that directly contribute to eradicating poverty, protecting the planet, and building shared prosperity without leaving anyone behind, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals," she expressed.
This event was held at the Government Palace in the Peruvian capital, Lima.
