The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Tuesday stated that her administration is an open-door government and that municipal authorities, both district and provincial, must be received by ministers, deputy ministers, and other officials in Lima in order to coordinate efforts to meet the population's needs.

These statements were made by Mrs. Boluarte during her inaugural speech at the municipal roundtable "Strengthening Decentralized Management - Agenda 2025, Macro South" in Tacna, southern Peru.

"We have come to tell you that we are an open-door government; ministers, deputy ministers, and other officials are duty-bound to receive you whenever you travel to Lima or need a minister to visit any community, so that we can work in a coordinated manner," she said.

In this regard, the top official explained that it is the Executive Branch's responsibility to address the needs of Peruvian districts and provinces.

"We have one year and five months left because, on July 28, 2026, within the framework of democracy and in respect of the rule of law and the strengthening of institutions, the President will hand over the presidential sash," she added.

Likewise, the Head of State urged mayors to "step on the gas" so as to deliver results for the benefit of the population.

"After this meeting, we will have reached a favorable outcome and set an example of effective budget execution, and if we need to incorporate more projects, we will do so, as that is how we will solve our people's problems," she added.

The top official reminded mayors that they are on the front lines when it comes to public works, as the population demands water-sanitation, roads, sidewalks, highways, bridges, hospitals, and schools. Thus, they often have to travel to Lima to knock on doors in search of solutions.

"The reason for this meeting is that local governments achieved 60% budget execution, compared to the national government, which achieved approximately 98%. We aim for them to reach 100% so that the population is well served," she stated.

The President stated that, together with technical teams, they will analyze the difficulties and strengths of each district, thus ensuring full budget execution in 2025.
